ASI-L is an electronic forum for discussion of the administration of the American Society for Indexing (ASI). Topics appropriate for this list include ASI-related strategic planning; changes in and concerns about association policy and practices; requests for volunteers; communications with the Board, committees, and other members; administrative and chapter announcements; and other issues relating to how ASI functions.

Inappropriate discussions include postings about indexing theory and practice, job postings, and networking opportunities. There are other excellent mailing lists for these topics. Consult the list on the ASI web site.

Individual membership issues and other issues requiring immediate attention should NOT be posted to this list. Please send email on such topics directly to ASI's headquarters at info@asindexing.org.

Subscriptions to ASI-L are strictly limited to current ASI members, and message content is unmoderated (with the expectation of no inappropriate or abusive language). Archives of ASI-L communications are available to subscribers only.

To subscribe, go to the ASI-L home page at groups.yahoo.com: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ASI-L. Click the "Join this Group" link on the right. You will be asked to fill in some registration information and to choose a password. The registration information is private and cannot be accessed by other list subscribers, including the list moderators. Save your password, because you will need it to change subscription options, access the list archives, or unsubscribe from the list.

After you choose to subscribe, there will be a slight delay as your request for membership is considered by the list moderator. This is done to ensure that only current ASI members are subscribers to this list. You will receive an email message at the address you specified once your subscription has been accepted.

To post to ASI-L, simply send your messages to ASI-L@yahoogroups.com. You can also post messages from the Yahoo-groups web site (http://groups.yahoo.com) once you have subscribed.

For any subscription changes, including setting digest mode, changing your email address, and to unsubscribe, visit the Yahoogroups web site (http://groups.yahoo.com) and select the mailing list for which you want to change your settings (in this case, ASI-L).
