Dinner:
Pueblo Indian and southwestern cuisines will be featured.
Entertainment:
Traditional dances and festivals form the centerpiece of Pueblo
Indian spiritual and cultural life. Performances by traditional
dancers, flute player and storyteller will be presented for your
education and enjoyment. Explanations of the dances and music are
an integral part of the peformances.
Museum:
The high-quality collections in this small museum trace the development
of the Pueblo peoples. The museum will be kept open throughout the
evening for ASI visitors. Admission fee is included in the ticket
price.
Galleries
and Shops: Pottery, paintings, rugs, sculpture, sandpaintings,
kachinas, traditional and contemporary jewelry, drums, flutes, and
more. Goods range from museum-quality works of art to inexpensive
souvenirs. The book shop has one of the largest selections of Southwestern
books in New Mexico. Shops will remain open until 7:00 p.m. so that
ASI members can enjoy them.
Transportation:
Buses will depart from the Sheraton Old Town Hotel in the
evening at 5:15, 5:30 5:45, 6:00, and 6:15. Return trips to the
hotel will also be scheduled at 15-minute intervals beginning half
an hour after the end of the entertainment segment of the evening.
This will allow some time for visiting the galleries before dinner
and the museum during the entire evening.
Cost:
Price included in full conference registration. $50
each for additional tickets. Guests are welcome.
