Accommodations
The conference hotel is the Hyatt Regency Vancouver located in the heart of Vancouver's downtown business and shopping district and 20 minutes from the Vancouver International Airport. The hotel contact information is:

Hyatt Regency Vancouver
655 Burrard Street
Vancouver, British Columbia
V6C 2R7 Canada
Tel: (604) 683-1234
Guest Fax: (604) 689-3707, located at the Front Desk

We've negotiated a rate of $199 Canadian (CAD), approximately $122 US per night (plus applicable taxes) for the conference period, an excellent value for this city.

We are very close to meeting our room block commitment at the hotel but, as it stands today, will very likely have to pay meeting room rental charges if our commitment is not realized. If you haven’t yet booked your hotel room, or are currently booked at another hotel, please consider making your reservation at the Hyatt, which is still offering the discounted conference rate. You can book your reservations online at http://vancouver.hyatt.com/groupbooking/asoi, or call 1-800-233-1234 (U.S. attendees only. Canadian attendees will receive the discount through IASC/SCAD.) Please identify yourself as an ASI Meeting attendee to receive the discounted rate.

Parking
Parking is available at the hotel, but not included in the room rate, for:
24 hours (in & out privileges) $18.50 CAD or
Full Day Parking (no in & out privileges) $12.00 CAD

Travel Discounts
We have negotiated special airline and car rental rates. If you would like to take advantage of these or need assistance with travel arrangements, contact Gail at Preferred Travel Services at (800) 848-6864 (toll-free) or (303) 298-7050, Monday - Friday, 9:00a.m. - 6:00p.m. (MT). Please identify yourself as an ASI Meeting attendee.

Need a rental car for your stay in Vancouver? We have negotiated discounted rates with Avis. Avis has assigned a specific discount number: J998456 (AWD-Avis Worldwide Discount number) for ASI attendees & IASC/SCAD to use when calling Avis directly at 1 (800) 331-1084. The rates are available from June 12 to June 28, 2003.

Food and Drink
As part of the registration fee conference attendees will receive Continental Breakfast (pastries, coffee and juice) on Friday and Saturday, dinner on Thursday, lunch on Saturday, as well as morning and afternoon refreshment breaks each day. Receptions each evening will serve a selection of beverages and hors d'oeuvres. A cash bar will also be available. Additional dinner and lunch tickets may be purchased for persons accompanying attendees.

Airport Shuttle
We have negotiated a discount coupon for ASI & IASC/SCAD attendees with the Vancouver Airporter Shuttle company. The coupon will be posted on the ASI website. You will need to print it out and bring it with you to redeem. (coupon valid from June 17 until June 23, 2003)

Fees: $10 CAD one-way and $16 CAD round trip after redeeming the $2 coupon

Pick-up Places:
To Hotel from the Vancouver Airport - in front of both international and domestic exits
Return trip: shuttle picks up right at the Hyatt Regency lobby to return you back to the Airport

Scheduled pick-up times: for schedule information please visit their web site at www.yvrairporter.com or call 1 (800) 668-3141 (locally (604) 946-8866). The shuttle schedule will also be posted on the ASI website in addition to copies available at the airport and hotel in Vancouver.

Travel Advisory
Vancouver is in Canada, and when crossing the border, travelers are required to produce proof of citizenship. This is being more strictly enforced in the wake of 9/11, and your car may be searched as well. For U.S. citizens, a passport meets the requirement, or a birth certificate accompanied by photo ID. You will also need some proof of your child's relationship to you, such as his or her birth certificate and photo ID.

See http://www.ccra-adrc.gc.ca/customs/individuals/visitors-e.html for details on visiting Canada from the U.S.

A passport is the best form of identification when crossing the border, but it's too late now to obtain one by the usual means. If you really want one, you can pay an extra fee for rush service. See http://travel.state.gov/passport_easy.html for information on how to obtain a U.S. passport.
