ASI Conference Additions

New Skills Improvement Workshop with Enid Zafran Added to Schedule

Double Posting and Its Friends

Thursday, April 19, 1:30-4:30

Double posting means more than just creating another entry. It involves understanding when to use cross-references, when to customize the other multiple postings, and how to avoid scattering. Enid will address common mistakes in indexing (including over-indexing which creates extra work for the indexer and under-indexing which creates extra work for the user), as well as show shortcuts for inputting and accuracy in indexing jobs. This workshop, and its extensive handouts, will offer useful tips for both newer and more experienced indexers.

Haven't registered yet for the conference? Need to renew your membership?

You can do both online at the same time.

Conference Updates and Information

Poster Submissions

Our poster boards will be empty in San Diego without your help. Posters are a great way to share information in
a visual, quick-hitting medium. So far, we don't have any submissions for 2012. If you submitted one via the online form, WE DID NOT RECEIVE IT due to a technical issue.  We invite you to submit your posters today using the downloadable form. The deadline is Feb. 27 if you want it included in the onsite program.

Roommates?

If you are trying to cut down on hotel costs by sharing a room but don't know someone to ask, we can help. Simply email your request to Annette Rogers. She will keep a master list of requests to help facilitate room sharing opportunities for attendees. We will get you in contact with others as they become available.

Exhibitor/Sponsor Opportunities

There is still time to reserve your exhibit space for the Annual Conference in San Diego. Any exhibitors that reserve space before Feb. 23 are guaranteed a place in the onsite program.

Don't want to exhibit but still was to enhance your group's presence, consider sponsoring a break or speaker or reception. Many opportunities are available. This is an especially effective way of getting your SIG or Chapter more visibility.

See all details in the Call for Exhibits.

Dinner with Someone New

If you are arriving early to the 2012 Annual Conference (perhaps for the pre-conference workshops), take advantage of this networking activity. We will make dinner reservations at several local area restaurants previously selected by ASI members via an online vote. The restaurants offer a variety of cuisine and atmospheres to cater to many tastes and moods.  Arrangements will be made for separate dinner checks. Just sign up through the ASI website. As reservations fill, ASI will add more locations and times.
