American Society for Indexing Seeks Recommendations for the Board

Kendra Millis, Chair

ASIs nominating committee has begun work identifying potential candidates for board positions beginning in 2019, including the positions of President-elect, Treasurer, and Directors-at-Large.

We are looking for active ASI members who are willing to give something back to their professional organization. ASI needs you! Your energy, experience, ideas, and commitment are crucial to the continued dynamic growth of this unique organization of information professionals. In addition to the opportunity to help shape the future of ASI, serving on the board is a wonderful way to really get to know a number of your fellow ASI members.

General responsibilities of all board members include attending board meetings, acting as liaison between the Board and ASI committees, and involvement in other organizational issues and projects of interest. Board meetings are held four or five times per year—three or four via an online meeting platform and one in person at the annual conference.

Further information on board positions can be found in the ASI Bylaws in the Members Area of the ASI website. If you have any questions about the responsibilities or commitment, please feel free to contact Kendra Millis, chair of the nominating committee, directly as well.

If you can imagine serving ASI in one of these roles, or know of someone else whose abilities and experience might enable them to contribute in a meaningful way to the organization, please email the committee chair.

Deadline for receiving suggestions for consideration by the nominating committee is Friday, January 25, 2019.
