Mailing Lists

Policy Effective June 1, 2001

Effective June 1, 2001, ASI is adopting new policies for the distribution of mailing lists and membership lists. This page explains ASI policies and procedures for use of its lists.

ASI Chapters, Groups and SIGs

Official ASI Chapters and affiliated Special Interest Groups (SIGs) can request an electronic listing of their members for use in support of ASI business by sending email to info@asindexing.org. These lists are available on demand and free of charge. Lists contain all contact information and include only members of the Chapter or SIG making the request. The list is returned attached to an email message as either a Microsoft Excel (.xls) file or a comma- separated plain text file (.csv), from which mailing labels can be generated and contact lists can be updated. ASI Headquarters can no longer provide free hard-copy mailing labels or printed membership lists.

Recipients of .xls and .csv files should understand basic mail merge procedures for creating printed labels. View and print instructions for doing a mail merge using Microsoft Word.

The free electronic lists are also available for non-profit purposes to unaffiliated SIGs that are actively seeking ASI affiliation, and to ASI Groups that are working toward becoming official ASI Chapters. Other groups and SIGs can request lists of their members for a fee of $50.

Commercial Use

ASI mailing labels, membership lists and lists of attendees at ASI Annual Meetings may be rented for one-time commercial use to offer products and programs that advance members' professional knowledge. Labels and lists are no longer available for free. Contact the Administrative Office of ASI for details and rates.
