Important Information Regarding ASI’s 2020 Conference

The ASI Board has made the difficult decision to postpone our annual conference, which was scheduled for April 23-25, 2020, in Raleigh. Even as you read this, we are working on rescheduling the conference in Raleigh for a similar time in 2021.

In our board discussion, we considered the current status of the COVID-19 issue, including concerns our members may have about travel, as well as the situation in North Carolina where the governor has declared a state of emergency. The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services specifically has stated that high risk persons should avoid large groups and event planners for larger gatherings of older adults should consider canceling.

Many organizations have canceled group events. The rationale is not just for your personal safety; it is to mitigate the transmission of the virus to other people who might have compromised immune systems or be medically vulnerable. For most people, the virus may be mild and could even be undetected, but it might unknowingly be transmitted to others.

Considering all these factors, ASI felt the socially responsible action is to avoid face-to-face contact this year and instead use the technology we have and present this conference virtually using online resources. It is truly an opportunity to share our knowledge with more of our members. You will be able to “attend” from the comfort of your home or office.

Soon you will hear from us about this exciting online conference scheduled for April 24 and 25, 2020, the same dates as our original conference. We are working to make the online conference as friendly and interactive as we can, while bringing you important educational offerings to help you enhance your indexing skills, market your business, and discover new business. The online conference will include some of the planned conference speakers and potentially additional speakers who can now be with us virtually.

Thank you for your patience as your board fully considered the situation and worked to make the best choices for our association. Your health and well-being are the top priorities for ASI. Thankfully, we have determined a way to offer you the learning opportunities you need to grow your business. We’ll be in touch soon with the details.
